Jeff Jackson's "Destroy All Monsters: The Last Rock Novel" will be published by Farrar Straus & Giroux in October 2018. Like a vinyl single, it has a Side A and Side B which can be read in any order. It's received advanced praise from Don DeLillo, Ben Marcus, Janet Fitch, and Dennis Cooper.

His first novel "Mira Corpora" was a Finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. It was praised by Dennis Cooper, Eimear McBride, and David Gates. It was selected one of the Best Books of 2013 in Slate, Salon, and The New Statesman. His limited edition novella "Novi Sad" was picked by Vice as one of the best books of 2016.

Jeff Jackson and 1 other person liked Nate D's review of Yann Andrea Steiner:
Yann Andrea Steiner by Marguerite Duras
"Another essential window into Duras' meta-narrative. Begins with episodes semi-recounted in Practicalities, then instantly begins to bleed across its borders into Blue Eyes, Black Hair and presumably L'Été 80. Then, a fairytale, a holocaust, an im..." Read more of this review »
The Experience of the Night by Marcel Béalu
"A story of eyes and seeing, reality and illusion, window to the soul or outward aperture on the world. Unfolding in four progressive episodes organized by the four elements, and with a symbolist force of image over direct narrative meaning, this i..." Read more of this review »
Jeff Jackson and 5 other people liked Nate D's review of The Orchid Stories:
The Orchid Stories by Kenward Elmslie
"For a work so seemingly random in its actual assortment of objects and events (could these have suggested by automatism? Cut-ups? Dreams? Roussellian word games?) this is a strange pleasure to read, with an unusual inner coherency. For which reaso..." Read more of this review »

Odd Jobs by Tony Duvert
"An all-too-short series of mordant fables, set in an unnamed macabre suburb, cataloguing the creepiness and horrors inside a medievalish imaginative realm. The author, a pioneering queer essayist and novelist, whose controversial sexual philosophi..." Read more of this review »

Tom McCarthy
“Literature has to remain frustrating — to withhold something, remain incomplete — or it’s not literature anymore, but rather entertainment, edification or interpretation. That’s literature’s USP: staying unresolved, keeping its most vital messages unspoken, creating a zone of noise where everything and nothing is said at the same time.”

Jeff Jackson Thanks Madeleine - looking forward to future bookish chats as well!

Love that you just read "Wrinkle in Time." That was a favorite when I was young and makes me think it's time to revisit it soon. Plus "Omensetter's Luck" has been sitting on my shelf for years - got to pull it down soon.

Madeleine Sweet can of corn, you weren't kidding about our similar literary tastes! I couldn't hit the "accept" button quickly enough.

Thank you so much for the friend request and the kind words you sent to accompany it. I am so very much looking forward to getting to know you and chatting about all kinds of bookish things in the future.

I'm glad to hear you're thinking of reading Heroines. I'm enjoying it so far -- it's interesting to see Zambreno's approach to weaving her biographical and literary criticism into her reflections on her own experiences. I've just stated Part Two, so I'm eager to see where she takes the book.

David Katzman Good sir. I think it might be time for you to add a photograph of yourself. Unless you do have a large tattoo of a question mark on your face, in which case I offer you my condolences.
